Hello! Let me tell you a little bit about me and my journey into dog training and dog rescue. I moved to California about 13 years ago and that is where it all began. I was looking for more in my life and I wanted to give back and volunteer in some capacity, but where and with whom? Life is so incredible because when you are ready for the change, the change is waiting for you and it showed up for me in the form of Erin Lovejoy, founder of The Lovejoy Foundation (www.lovejoyfoundation.org/). She was standing behind me one afternoon at the grocery store and I recognized her because of some press she had recently received. I introduced myself and we talked for a few minutes. She said, “Hey, you should come and volunteer some time!” That planted the seed and it was not until I rescued my little Chi, “Little” that the journey began. I found “Little” in front of my house, he had been severely abused. I took him to Erin and the Lovejoy Foundation for help and guidance in regards to his medical care and to see if she wanted to adopt him out. He needed to heal first and once the healing was complete, I was in love, he became mine, and he has been a part of my “pack” for almost 7 years now. My beloved sweet Sam came out of the Carson Shelter and so many others have been found, rescued, trained, loved and gone into beautiful homes. I began volunteering and fostering for Erin and the Lovejoy Foundation. Then it hit me that I wanted to know more about these dogs, I wanted to make their lives better and give them all a better shot at finding that happy ever after home. So that was the beginning. I have since gone on to complete my education as a certified dog trainer with Animal Behavior College. I am certified in working with shelter dogs and have volunteered at the Carson Shelter for 3 years. I have completed my studies in animal psychology, and I am an official AKC Evaluator. I continue to train the Lovejoy dogs. I also train privately and in groups settings. I have started a bully breed rescue with my sister, Molly Hair, called “Earth Angels” (www.earthangels-rescue.org/) and continue to fight every single day to make the lives of our beloved dogs better, safer and more compassionate. I am so excited to be on this journey with you and I look forward to enriching your pet’s life with YOU!
